Facilities We have everything you need for you and your horse. Great boarding facilities (for the horse) and camping for you, parking for your rig, arenas, trails and an obstacle course. Here are some pictures of what we have for you.
PARKING YOUR RIGS At Windsong, there are two loops at different locations in the road to turn your rig around. That comes in handy if you find it difficult to back up your trailer. If you are attending a two or three day event, like clinics, there is a field that is used to park your rig and campers that is conveniently close to bathroom facilities, the tacking up area and the arenas. Participant often set up camp for the days they will be spending at the ranch.
CAMPING Over night camping is provided for participants envolved with activities and events on Windsong Ranch. People camp in their horse trailers, campers, or pitch their tents. Gerald and Suzie(owner of Windsong Ranch) turned one the their tack room located inside their hay barn into a little bunk house. Inside is a small kitchen and sitting room, a bathroom with a shower, and an upstairs sleeping area with cots. Users of this facility need to bring their own sleeping bags, towels and toiletries, and cooking utencils. Use of the sleeping area must be prearranged. The kitchen, shower and bathroom is for common use.
HOLDING PEN Windsong has outdoor holding pens for horses while participants are attending clinics, lessons, or using the riding facilities. The horses, therefore, do not need to be tied to a trailer or post during the times the horseman is taking a break from riding or staying the night.
ROUND PEN The 55 foot round pen is made of 2x10 boards and railroad ties for the support posts. It is a very safe place to work young, untrained, or troubled horses, or for practicing new skills. The round pen is a well used facility at Windsong.
The Setting Eastern Washington is absolutely beautiful. Mountains, forest, desert, rivers and lakes are all a short ride from the ranch.
Riding Facilities Windsong's OUTDOOR ARENA is joined to the INDOOR ARENA at one end, and connected by a chute to a 55 foot ROUND PEN at the opposite end. This enables use of all three areas with various activities occurring at the same time. Here is an example. During one of our Cow Working and Ranch Roping Clinics, there may be a group of participant practicing head or heal shots on saw horses in the indoor arena, cow working and driving cattle in the outdoor arena, and roping and tying down a calf in the round pen.
The OBSTACLE COURSE is not far off from the arenas. It are three acres of fun challenges. The obstacles include - pond /stream /wooden bridge /teeter-totter bridge /hilly wooded trails /log jumps of varying sizes /gates /round pen /and a large field. The variety of obstacles are ongoing.
